Walk4Good is a growing community of kindness-driven individuals from all walks of life whose primary mission is to inspire and empower people to practice kindness and to pass acts of kindness onto others. We envision a world where we are all a little more engaged in our local communities and personally deliberate in our willingness and intent to help those around us.Christine Baker launched Walk4Good in September, 2011. She and her yellow Labrador Retriever named Jessie will walk the 2,180 miles of the entire Appalachian Trail together beginning in June 2012. Why She Plays: The World of Womens Basketball (University of Nebraska Press 2008) is now available for purchase! Why does she play basketball? Since the enactment of Title IX in 1972, that question has come to be asked of more girls and women and answered in more ways than ever before. Author Christine Baker, former stellar player and coach, pursues an answer through the ranks of the sport from youth basketball to the WNBA.

Christine BakerChristine has nearly 15 years of experience in integrated marketing communications for business to business, not-for-profit and higher education clients. She has served as a senior communications officer and company spokesperson and is adept at creating integrated communications programs that synch both traditional and non-traditional marketing with public relations efforts.She is the author of Why She Plays: The World of Women's Basketball (University of Nebraska Press 2008) and regularly lectures on the subjects on Title IX and women's sports participation.Christine received a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from Wesleyan University and was the recipient of Wesleyan University's Rulewater Prize.She is a global columnist for Stay Thirsty Media and has over 80 bylined articles to her name including: Got Game Magazine, Full Court Press Online, Confluence, Beginnings Literary Magazine, Survivor's Review, The Tipton Poetry Journal and others. She is an adjunct professor of Communication Arts at St. Thomas Aquinas College (NY).Christine is a member of the Author's Guild, Rockland Business Women's Network and Women's Sports Foundation. Christine was named one of the Hudson Valley's PROUD Women of the Year in 2008 and one of Rockland County's Forty Under 40. She was a finalist for a Billie Award in Journalism from the Women’s Sports Foundation in 2009 and a finalist for the Sundance Screenwriters Institute in 2011. She was inducted into the Middletown, Connecticut Sports Hall of Fame in January 2011.She is working on several feature film scripts and has recently launched a non-profit organization called Walk4Good.
